About the Course
Training as a counsellor is demanding intellectually, emotionally and socially. It is not a process that can be managed by reading, attending lectures and writing essays, but involves the whole person. Counselling training always involves experiential work, interacting with others in role play and actual client work. It involves group work in which individual weaknesses and vulnerabilities are often revealed and worked with. Participants give and receive support from others, which is essential to a safe learning environment.
Counselling is, by definition, a very individual and personal activity, yet the very conception of training involves something in the way of agreed standards of what counts as competence. Our program aims at protecting and developing trainees’ individual style, while providing adequate critical assessment. Today, an increasing number of people, are seeking professional help. Actors, professionals, politicians, people from all walks of life are accepting the many benefits counselling can provide. The need for counsellors is expected to grow in the coming decade, and so is the body of knowledge in the field. By taking advantage of counselling courses and other professional development opportunities, you can insure your ability to help and aid your quest for career advancement.
