Counselling training always involves experiential work, interacting with others in role play and actual client work. 
 
Counselling children and adolescents is often different from counselling adults, though the objective is the same. This stimulating course is highly experiential. The aim of this program is to facilitate counsellors in furthering their knowledge and experience of counselling children and teenagers. It is designed to expand your counselling tool kit so you develop a wide range of counselling techniques and skills that are suited to all ages. In addition to the traditional counselling approaches, our program focusses on the integerated method of child counselling with significant reference to using play therapy, Narrative approaches/ imagery techniques and art therapy.
 
Life throws unexpected challenges at the adolescents who are struggling with their transition to adulthood.  Hence this course is designed to provide a strong foundation in Counselling Skills together with proactive and creative strategies that are appropriate to working with Children and teenagers.

Eligibility

Academic qualification - A bachelor’s degree from any stream, Basic course in counselling skills

Duration

18 weeks starting from August 2018. Theory classes will be held on Tuesday from 10 am- 4 pm.

Medium of instruction is English.

Group size

The group size is normally between 10-12 people only to facilitate deeper sharing and better learning.

It is intended that participants completing the course will

  • Have enhanced ability to work with children and teenagers
  • Gain the skills to help children develop their EQ
  • Be able to use the counselling skills to enhance their relationship within the family setting.

The teaching and learning happens in a relaxed setting in a limited group size. The existing knowledge and personal experiences of group members will be shared and valued as one of the essential resources.
